Playing in shallow waters

Weekend sojourns in hard to get to spots by the harbour in one of Sydney's many nooks and corners are the best. Hours spent idly playing in rock pools and shallow waters of shady spots with fishes swimming around my ankles and birds chirping close by are what life should be made of.

Obviously one dresses for lazy days in loungey clothing from the Motherland in bright colours. Nothing says comfort to me on hot days more than cotton, hand block-print flowy cotton to be exact. I have this same block print fabric in the same colours in an anarkali that I love and wear extensively that was documented here over four years ago.

Jungle Book

Pretending to be Mowgli in a tropical rainforest, chasing creeks, skipping on mossy rocks leading to waterfalls and loving the smell of the forest. I never wanted to leave and can't wait to go back to the mountains and clamber over rocks till I am exhausted. Of course the cold meant, all the layering happened under the block-print dress, beanie came out to play and boots with thicks socks were needed.

Yes, I go camping in flowy dresses, sometimes trip a little bit but my love for block-print flowy goodness means I rarely want to wear much else. What do you wear to go camping?

Rainforest adventures in the cold

The pictures above were taken ages ago when we went walking in a wonderfully green, shaded rainforest full of tall trees and ferns. We walked and climbed for eons to get to the foot of a spectacular water fall and just stared at the sheer beauty of the water cascading down the rocks and the foliage.

The stunning national parks of Australia are endowed with flora, fauna, canyons and beaches that are just a spectacular balm to the eyes. Large areas of untouched forest in many cases sites of many important Aboriginal Australian sites, outstanding tropical foliage and long stretches of the coast backed by lush bush. Most of the national park are a wonderful blend of culture and nature, reminding us that living in nature is natural to us and not the centrally air-conditioned world we live in.

Loose winter layers

Loose traditional kurtas and pyjamas with block print dupattas combined with wool base layers, long cardigans and boots make great winter wear in my opinion. They make me feel less suffocated than I would be in tighter layers, evoke the feeling of floating in soft layers and let me prance about in the bush north of Sydney to spot a wonderful troop of kangaroos. All in all a win win situation, don't you think?
