In which I wear a block print tent and love it

So here I am posting after ages in yet another Indian block print dress; what can I say except for agreeing with the fact that I am a poster child for being obsessed with the same thing for decades. Trends come and go, some people think I am ridiculous colourful others think my clothes are super cool based on either what appeals to their tastes but mostly based on what's deemed in or out.

I am tired of trends and know what makes me feel good and no amount of funny jokes or outright nastiness is going to make an iota of difference. Initially I wanted to maybe trim the hem of this beauty but better sense prevailed (Thank you Mummy) and I decided to wear it in its full length flowing glory.

Its no secret that I love Block-print little tunics but combine them with over-size grand-pa cardies and I am in my comfy heaven. Add a bunch of friendly puppies to my favourite cozy outfit and I've got the essentials covered to long-lasting happiness. All I can say right now is TGIF! Have a happy weekend world.

I've been sick in bed for three days now, had to be convinced that going for a little walk while the sun sets and the neighbourhood dogs come out to play was a good idea. I can report that it indeed was a brilliant idea, I feel much better and doggie cuddles do wonders for me. And sick clothing calls for comfort, comfort and still more comfort! We had great weather over the weekend which meant going to the beach and playing with puppies at the rock pools till sunset. And warm weather (any weather really) calls for a soft cotton dresses and comfy boots. This dress is a one of my birthday gifts from my sister last year that I have been wearing non-stop for over a year and am not even remotely bored with it. Hope you all had a good weekend. A cluster of shell necklaces, tiny block-print tunic, a vintage leather tooled beauty, little flower crown, ethnic cuffs, little things that cheer me up at the end of a dreary break...The last day of the Easter holidays saw me sleeping really late and then I decided to walk around the neighbourhood in search of something yummy to eat/ just walk the little laneways and look greedily at pretty houses with pretty plants. Not a great outfit post but this is what I normally wear; prints I like, loads of jewellery especially the kind I am obsessed with at a particular time, which right now happens to be cowrie shells for some reason, as many flowers as I can stick around me and comfy boots. Basically not something that is well thought out but just things that make me happy whether they are on or off me.

Dress: Anokhi, Bag and Beanie: Sportsgirl, Boots: India

I have had a rough couple of days and have been dealing with some yucky personal stuff lately and that had made me crawl into a hole and avoid doing much here but then one of my blogger buddies (Hey Debi!)spoke to me all night and that helped me gain a little perspective and I decided I miss my little band of fabulous feminist ladies too much to mope around for long. Therefore here I am...

My love for ethnic blockprint fabric is well documented here as is my unwavering devotion to this brand called Anokhi which supports local crafts people in Jaipur, India therefore I shall not bore you with more odes to this fabric. Instead let me tell you the story of this particular Anokhi dress; made out of thick linen fabric it used to be a maxi which looked completely ridiculous on me, so I hacked it and let the ends fray. I intend on patchworking one of my army bags with the leftover fabric and I love the shapeless-ness plus floaty sleeves of this dress which make me feel like I have wings. All in all a win-win situation, where I have a dress I love which is perfect for fall weather, I can wear a tonne of layers under the dress and it is something that no one else has and fabric from it will help me personalize my army bag. So much happiness from one little dress!

Seasons greetings in block print

Lately the sometimes sunny but suddenly not so warm temperatures in Sydney have made it easy to wear my maxi dresses and boots, therefore instead of complaining about the undecidedness of the weather I choose to be happy that I can indulge in a little light layering. As I have already waxed eloquent about my love for block print fabrics, I will not bore you with more of the same but just leave you with the pictures of this amazing dress that I wore traveling across the Himalayas and this perfectly worn-in vintage leather back-pack.

All my presents are packed and ready to be opened in a few hours, the wine's chilling in the fridge, appetizer kebabs are marinating, meat for the roast is thawing, I can hear the boy packing my presents upstairs and here I am chilling in another cotton block printed dress waiting for the festivities to well and truly begin.
