Balcony twirls

The cold and the rain though not really welcome are settling in, I am slightly excited about autumn layers but I am not really looking forward to winter AT ALL. I know I am a wuss, because Sydney winters are pretty mild compared to a lot of places but I just don't like heavy layers and wearing pants! Wearing pants is the WORST!

But hopefully there is still some sunlight left for the next few weeks and we can enjoy a bit more warmth. While there is even a semblance of warmth, I will twirl in barely there dusters and tiny little dresses like this one. Bought after an intense haggle in Colaba this dress is years old and the duster made from a thin, cotton Kalamkari saree never fails to make me feel good. All the jewellery is silver from India bought over the years.

Buddhist flags, books and plants

Some of the things that remind me of home are loads of plants & books, a little prayer corner, temple incense, Buddhist flags, the smell of wet soil after plants have just been watered, fresh flowers and spices.

I keep trying to bring in influences of my childhood & what is familiar; to my current home and I've realized it is slowly morphing into little corners that remind me of homes I've lived in and the places I have visited and that stayed with me. I love hours spent de-weeding or re-arranging my green babies, reading amongst them and generally lounging about in my pjs and embroidered slippers with music playing in the background and a book in my hand.

This is a little glimpse into my home and a lazy Saturday evening relaxing after being slightly under the weather.

Jungle jardin

My balcony seen here over a year ago has become a little green haven where I always feel at peace.

In the summer the foliage makes me feel like I am in the tropics and in the winter by the heat of our portable bbq I've spend many hours reading or just sitting doing nothing. I can't wait to have even more Buddhist flags to create a play of light and shade, its a constant work in progress this yearning to bring the jungle into my home.

Here are a few photos of my everyday attire around my plant babies, nothing special just a few pictures taken right after I'd been pottering around rearranging the greens. Life isn't about always being dolled up for photos, sometimes comfy old clothes and dirt under finger nails feel better than being 24/7 selfie ready.

Yes, I am wearing four anklets at the same time and I think its too little, I yearn to have heaps of silver on my hands and feet at all times.
