Bell-bottom jeans with Bandhani

Bandhani is an ancient form of intricate tie-dye, evidence suggests that it was in existence as early as 4000BC and most of what I wear comes from the Saurashtra or Kutch region of Gujarat. The dots are created by meticulously tying thousands of sections of the cloth to resist the rich colours of mostly natural dye it is then dipped in, which results in intricate designs and motifs.

I can never get enough of Bandhani, here I have worn a cotton open front flowy bandhej kurta with a maxi cardigan and a pair of bell-bottoms from One teaspoon. However as much as I love Bandhani, I also like wearing it in ways that suit me, rather than wear the typical gaghra, or salwar kurta, I don't see the point of staying within the tried and tested popular parameters. I mean I will play the princess in a chiffon bandhani anarkali but not all the time and I do like to incorporate a lot of traditional desi fabrics into my everyday with my jeans. What's life if one can't play a little bit with one's clothing?

Walking the dog in flared cords

A cosy outfit for a cold autumn afternoon of walking the puppy in layers of wool, cord super flares from one teaspoon and a massive bandhani scarf. What is your outfit of choice for running after a bundle of energy that refuses to slow down? I mean look at her here, there is no point to these photos except for just looking at the sheer beauty of her!

Sunset shenanigans

Nothing much to say about these photos, except that I love to dress for comfort, nothing defines comfort in the cold more than corduroy and merino wool, I love block print and will add block print accents to every outfit and above all I love cute puppies and playing catch with them. Sydney sunsets are gorgeous aren't they?

Jungle jardin

My balcony seen here over a year ago has become a little green haven where I always feel at peace.

In the summer the foliage makes me feel like I am in the tropics and in the winter by the heat of our portable bbq I've spend many hours reading or just sitting doing nothing. I can't wait to have even more Buddhist flags to create a play of light and shade, its a constant work in progress this yearning to bring the jungle into my home.

Here are a few photos of my everyday attire around my plant babies, nothing special just a few pictures taken right after I'd been pottering around rearranging the greens. Life isn't about always being dolled up for photos, sometimes comfy old clothes and dirt under finger nails feel better than being 24/7 selfie ready.

Yes, I am wearing four anklets at the same time and I think its too little, I yearn to have heaps of silver on my hands and feet at all times.

Puppy love and bell-bottoms

Been spending a lot of time at the dog-park and running around keeping up with my four legged friends. Sometimes I do the whole blue jeans, silk singlet, black cross-body and minimal jewellery thing but more often than not the jeans are super flared. Hope everyone's had a lovely February, here's to a wonderful week. Happy Tuesday folks.

Comfy with a dash of bright colour

First things first, can you believe the two adorable munchkins I got to play with over the weekend? They were tiny little bundles of fun and I think I might be head over heels in doggy love. Baby animals are so much better than most people, non? I am really having to rein in the impulse to put a million puppy pictures here.

Okay on to clothes before I dog nap the closest available pooch. Corduroy has always been one of my favourite fabrics, especially for the cold, I don't care if it is flared, skinny or baggy or if the fashion houses have deeemed it cool. If it is soft and worn-in corduroy I will wear it. Combine the coziness of baggy cords with the softest merino wool and its a match made in comfort heaven. With the androgynous silhouette being so popular these days everyone is wearing pyjama pants, not that trends affect most of my sartorial decisions in the least.

Truth be told the more popular a thing gets the less I want to wear it but I refuse to give up my comfy clothing and am just waiting for the trend slaves to salivate over the next shipment at Topshop and Zara. Usually just waiting it out for most people to get bored always does the trick.

What really irks me about people claiming to be in the know of fashion related things is that they seems to think that the relaxed boyfriend fit is solely for us narrow hipped ladies. What nonsense! I've seen plenty of curvier ladies sporting boyfriend jeans and looking fabulous. So anyone wanting to jump on the pyjama denim/ leather/ cord wagon please just do it.

Of course spring, summer or winter my love for colourful handcrafted jewellery, embroidered slippers and fabric bags remains steadfast. I have recently been wearing a lot of long beaded jewellery from India's north-east and South America and I am on the hunt for more.

Lazy winter outfit worn to get a mug of steaming hot chocolate round the corner from home. Paid hibernating winter leave should be mandatory during the winter months. Happy almost mid-week.

An ode to Sydney's Northern Beaches

Golden sand, surrounded by native bushland, national parks, lagoons, peaceful waterways, cascading water falls and about eighteen beaches on a stretch of approximately thirty kilometers, known as the beautiful coastal suburbs of Sydney's magnificent Northern beaches. We spent Boxing day away from the year end sales stampedes and walking along the coast in the bushlands of Whale Beach, Palm beach, Barrenjoe lighthouse, Oxford falls, eating at little local cafes, collecting succulents, playing in the sand, getting splashed by the waves and let me tell you it beats trying to find your size in a pair of jeans that the latest fashion magazine deems a must-have!

Northern Beaches is also home to brands like One teaspoon, Ksubi etc and I love the cheerful, laid back vibe and the true local Aussie charm of the people there. Everyone we met was a treat and the dogs were out of this world. And to make matters more fun personal style wise I was wearing one of my treasured Chrissy gifts, the One teaspoon flared Ziggy's that have become my second skin since I got them. They are the perfect super flares and as I walked they collected heaps of sand and plenty of sea weed which made me love them even more. I wore them with a soft, worn to pieces white tee, vintage plaid shirt, a cloth bag from India, heaps of silver and jumped around amidst stunning natural beauty to my heart's content. Trust me the pictures do no justice to the landscape as well the Ziggy's you really have to be face to face to truly appreciate them.
