Easy breezy denim with Ikat

This is a prime example of a comfortable flu recovery outfit. Autumn is here and with it my jeans have come out to play, one of my tried and tested formulas over the colder months is; pants with bright oversize sweaters or shirts or jackets, silver jewellery from one of my travels and bright bags. This handloom-ed Ikat shirt is one of my most favourite possessions, as is the hand-woven bag from one of the Pacific Islands, this Lamani coin necklace and this vintage army jacket. Some people would say there is too much going on in terms of colours and patterns but I am a believer of more or more when it comes to hand-made goodies.

I like documenting everyday outfits in everyday locations and I am lucky enough to live in a city where clean beaches and rain-forest-y goodness are common location options. I genuinely think bright shawls, colourful bags, bush and beach walks keep me going through winter, without them I'd be lost. There is nothing that warms the soul like a walk on a secluded beach, the crisp salty air, the rock pools, the towering cliffs and spectacular views. We like to use the shorter days to ensure we spend every bit of the daylight hours outdoors on the non-rainy weekends. Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend with heaps of outdoor adventures to feed your imagination for the coming week.

Ride the lightning

I embroidered these shorts a year ago because I was astounded by the amount of denim cut-offs I had and I didn't think I would wear them as much as a plain pair. But I forgot that wearing neutrals and all that nonsense about minimalism is complete nonsense to me..

So here we have a vintage Metallica tee fluttering over a pair of hand embroidered denim cut-offs and boots I can't seem to take off. Hope March has been treating you well, happy almost Friday world.

Sack dresses and dog walks

Yes, I've turned into one of those people who just flood their social media posts and feeds with pictures of dogs and cats..I don't even have a pet yet; now imagine when I do how much worse this habit is going to get. Eeps!

Yes there are a couple of pictures of me wearing a flowy cotton sack with the boots I am obsessed with and a bright woven bag, I mean there is only so much thought given to outfit choices when a bundle of madness is jumping at one's toes wanting to go outdoors?

Have a wonderful weekend people.

In this house the cat is incharge

Nothing beats a day in a crochet wisp, boots and embroidered bag indulging in some feline loving. I live for relaxed days like these. Happy Womens' day, I know it sucks we just have one day a year that celebrates us but entire lifetimes of misogyny therefore I treat all my days like we're Goddesses.

Anywho google's dedicated a celebratory doodle to us today and I want to wish all the ladies out there fighting daily in the face of patriarchy "WE RULE", "WE'RE AWESOME" and "PEOPLE WHO THINK OTHERWISE ARE SCUM"..

Have a wonderful weekend and I want to tell the awesome women in my life I'd be nothing without you and Yes! I mean you, Mummy..I'd truly be nothing without you and I hope you see your own worth and demand being treated with love and respect.

Twilight twirls

Sometimes one can't be bothered wearing actual clothes, I just pull out silky somethings in colours I love and decide that will my outfit. And nothing goes better with apology for clothing like a bright embroidered Kutchi bag and loads of jewels.

Being sick sucks!

Block print dress: India, Sweater: Thrifted, Boots: Doc Martens, Bag: Hand woven in Papua New Guinea

I've been sick in bed for three days now, had to be convinced that going for a little walk while the sun sets and the neighbourhood dogs come out to play was a good idea. I can report that it indeed was a brilliant idea, I feel much better and doggie cuddles do wonders for me. And sick clothing calls for comfort, comfort and still more comfort! Hope everyone's been having a better weekend than I am. Happy Sunday world!

Can't believe I haven't run out of block print cotton dresses yet!

Dress: Thrifted, Boots: India, Denim Jacket: Mango, Jewellery: All over

Last weekend I went to the Zoo, bushwalked, played on a various isolated beaches and baked on rocks...It was perfect except for the fact that I didn't much care to gawk at big cats behind a thick wall of glass. They were confined to little space and didn't look happy at all, I think this will be the last time I ever go to a zoo to look at animals, have to find another outlet for all animal crazy in me.

I wore my usual block print tunic, boots, carpet bag and a bunch of jewellery, had to add a jacket since its been getting cooler. Today is quite cold and rainy, stay home sip on cocoa and DIY kinda day. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Blogger buddies RULE!

Dress: Anokhi, Bag and Beanie: Sportsgirl, Boots: India

I have had a rough couple of days and have been dealing with some yucky personal stuff lately and that had made me crawl into a hole and avoid doing much here but then one of my blogger buddies (Hey Debi!)spoke to me all night and that helped me gain a little perspective and I decided I miss my little band of fabulous feminist ladies too much to mope around for long. Therefore here I am...

My love for ethnic blockprint fabric is well documented here as is my unwavering devotion to this brand called Anokhi which supports local crafts people in Jaipur, India therefore I shall not bore you with more odes to this fabric. Instead let me tell you the story of this particular Anokhi dress; made out of thick linen fabric it used to be a maxi which looked completely ridiculous on me, so I hacked it and let the ends fray. I intend on patchworking one of my army bags with the leftover fabric and I love the shapeless-ness plus floaty sleeves of this dress which make me feel like I have wings. All in all a win-win situation, where I have a dress I love which is perfect for fall weather, I can wear a tonne of layers under the dress and it is something that no one else has and fabric from it will help me personalize my army bag. So much happiness from one little dress!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter holiday and feasting on goodies, I am off to do some work and then take it easy. Happy Sunday world!

I love old clothes aka size does not matter

Leather shorts+tee-shirts: Vintage, Floral skirt: One tea-spoon, Doc Martens

Hi! My name is Tanaya and I love man repelling clothing. The loose leather shorts in the first few pictures, the super old, almost falling apart Metallica tee-shirt plus the over-sized Doc Martens in the last two pictures are things that I love love love and refuse to stop wearing. I have been told quite often lately by well-meaning people that they fail to understand why I want to look ugly when I can look heaps better by wearing tighter more well-fitting clothes. Hmmm! And on one occasion even that I don't need to hide my body since I am skinny, which made my blood boil. So if a person is a little over the size that is deemed appropriate by heaven knows who, one is banned from wearing fitted clothes? Seriously SERIOUSLY???!!!

As you can imagine that statement led to a pretty passionate discussion which thankfully for you won't result in a rant here. But basically I just want to say if as a size zero girl I am happy wearing oversize clothes its my perogative, if I don't want to balance said oversize item of clothing with more fitted little friends again my business, if I want to wear head to toe ill fitting garments, again completely my choice and the phrase age-appropriate makes me want to hurl things. I respect people's right to express or not express their individuality through apparel they don and I am fiercely protective of that right for myself. So all in all clothes that hang off my frame are fun, Docs that are a size bigger so I don't have to break them in are awesome (even if they look comical according to some), loose/old clothes that make me feel like I am wearing sweats are wonderful and above all playing with size and proportions is pretty darn entertaining. More people should try it. What are your thoughts on the topic?

P.S. I received my first letter addressed to Mademoiselle Tanaya today. How fun is that? And the sun's back out (for now) and my tooth is much better, thank you for your kind comments on my last post.
