Walking by a rivulet in a rainforest

The cold is well and truly here in Sydney and winter has officially begun, which is why I am looking back at pictures of wonderful weather and of wearing bare minimum clothing. Here are some photos of our road-trip during a long weekend, leisurely exploring national parks, walking by rivulets, looking for waterfalls, drinking chilled beer and wearing block print wisps as swimsuit cover-ups.

Can you tell I don't do winters well? Ah well! Planning our next sojurn to the city of lights will have to keep my mind busy and away from the thoughts of puffer jackets and thermal underwear!

Winter beach walks

Sunny winter Sundays spent by the lake or ocean are the best ways to de-stress and re-examines one's priorities. And having an energetic furball just completes the picture of perfection. I have been open about my love for traditional Indian fabrics and cuts and this top or 'Kediyu' as it is called traditionally in Gujarat is one of my prized items of clothing. Last year I went to my tailor with some left over scrap of bright green 'Bandhani' fabric that was too little to be used for much and demanded a Kediyu and he made me this. I love it so much I have qualms about washing it in the machine. I cannot wait to go back this year and get more made.

This top is very commonly seen worn by men in Gujarat and elaborate versions are worn for the Navaratri festival during the fall harvest. I can't really see myself waiting for holidays to wear what I like and therefore I wear these kind of tops all year round. I mean once you've found something you love, have continued being obsessed by it for decades, there isn't much point in wearing it every once in a while.

Badass Goddess tee-shirt

Another day, another Goddess tee shirt, worn with shorts & grandpa cardigan, a Mexican backpack and docs because it was raining. Taking overactive puppies out for exercise in the rain means one has to be comfortable and prepared to get dirty jumping in puddles and wrestle in the muck. Not that I am complaining, give me puppies and kitties over most people anyday and I am a happy little girl.

This time the lady on the tee-shirt is one of the avatars of the Hindu Goddess of power who is known for her annihilation of evil forces and as one can imagine she is one of my favourite-st. I mean she gets drunk on the blood of the demons she destroys, dances in a frenzy on the corpses, almost destroys the world and frightens powerful realms. Badass Goddesses make the best role models, what's not to love?

Hope everyone's had a wonderful start to the week, happy Wednesday.

Indigo block print and bikes

I love it when I don't have to bother about dressing up for anything or looking proper, just wear and be the way I want to be. An indigo block print maxi kurta from Anokhi, heaps of silver jewellery, carpet boots, fabric bag from South America, an Enfield bullet and the cutest puppy friend.

Ride the lightning

I embroidered these shorts a year ago because I was astounded by the amount of denim cut-offs I had and I didn't think I would wear them as much as a plain pair. But I forgot that wearing neutrals and all that nonsense about minimalism is complete nonsense to me..

So here we have a vintage Metallica tee fluttering over a pair of hand embroidered denim cut-offs and boots I can't seem to take off. Hope March has been treating you well, happy almost Friday world.

In this house the cat is incharge

Nothing beats a day in a crochet wisp, boots and embroidered bag indulging in some feline loving. I live for relaxed days like these. Happy Womens' day, I know it sucks we just have one day a year that celebrates us but entire lifetimes of misogyny therefore I treat all my days like we're Goddesses.

Anywho google's dedicated a celebratory doodle to us today and I want to wish all the ladies out there fighting daily in the face of patriarchy "WE RULE", "WE'RE AWESOME" and "PEOPLE WHO THINK OTHERWISE ARE SCUM"..

Have a wonderful weekend and I want to tell the awesome women in my life I'd be nothing without you and Yes! I mean you, Mummy..I'd truly be nothing without you and I hope you see your own worth and demand being treated with love and respect.

An afternoon well spent

Busy neighbours with cute dogs are my favourite kind of people, especially when the puppy is this cuddly. Random pictures from an afternoon spent playing in the park, walking Ms Abundant Energy and drinking cold beers. Seriously look at that face, isn't she the prettiest?

This Goddess tee-shirt is one of my latest obsessions, sent over by my sister from her trip to Pondicherry. I spend waay too much time wearing it and am afraid to wash it. Hope you've had a lovely weekend, mine was spent with dogs, cats and surrounded by plants, just how I like it.

Happy Monday world!

Holiday happiness

Sometimes its too hot to wear anything other than an embroidered, wispy dress with fun jewelery. Holiday saving and planning has kept me on my toes the last few weeks and I want nothing more than to put my feet up and relax figuratively while I am actually tearing at my pressies.

I think I am all packed for the bitterly cold northern winter, excited to be on the other side of the world and explore new cities. Hope the pre-holiday period is treating you well. Happy almost Holidays all!

In which I wear a block print tent and love it

So here I am posting after ages in yet another Indian block print dress; what can I say except for agreeing with the fact that I am a poster child for being obsessed with the same thing for decades. Trends come and go, some people think I am ridiculous colourful others think my clothes are super cool based on either what appeals to their tastes but mostly based on what's deemed in or out.

I am tired of trends and know what makes me feel good and no amount of funny jokes or outright nastiness is going to make an iota of difference. Initially I wanted to maybe trim the hem of this beauty but better sense prevailed (Thank you Mummy) and I decided to wear it in its full length flowing glory.

Hope life's been treating you well. I know I have been a lax in the commenting department lately and I am sorry. Happy Sunday world!
