Amour eux de la montagne

Dress: Indonesia, Bag: Vintage, Silver: India+Sydney markets, Leather back-pack: Vintage, Shoes: Palladium

We spend the last weekend of the year, at the Blue mountains just outside Sydney exploring caves, walking up and down beautiful mountain tracks, chilling by stunning water falls, saying hello to wild wallabies, eclectus parrots and more water dragons than I was comfortable with. I left the house wearing a pair of fluro pants and my crochet cardie but discovered it was super hot when we got there so I changed into a kinda tattered/ almost backless maxi with my trusty Palladiums, they look great with anything, are super light compared to other hiking boots I've seen and they were exceedingly useful on the Himalayas during monsoon, even more than the professional walking shoes that people had bought for heaps more money, I rest my case. I don't know about anyone else but for me, Palladiums rule! I can't wait to buy a few more on sale, been eyeing the leather ones lately but I think the canvas pairs can take more beating. Hope everyone is has awesome end of the year plans, and 2013 is wonderful! Happy Sunday all!

Market day kitty love

My markets jaunts every weekend not only lead to accumulating a treasure trove of one of a kind stuff but it almost always also leads to coming across the most interesting, inspirational objects and animals. This Saturday was no exception, we stumbled upon a house completely covered in sweet smelling vine with tiny white flowers and as I was ooh-ing, aah-ing and exclaiming that this was the house of my dreams a kitty person walked out wanted to be cuddled. I mean seriously not only does someone have the most beautiful secret garden-esque cottage they also have this fur-ball to squeeze when they want! I spend many glorious minutes petting this cutie and admiring the house till we had to finally walk away. Why why why?

Anyway this is what I was wearing because it was kinda chilly, I wanted to be comfy and I rarely put too much thought into what I am wearing on market day because I just want to go have fun. Not like there is an elaborate thought process on other days, gaah I should just accept I am a lazy person who likes many layers to stay warm and piles loads of junk jewellery. I am still incredibly in love with this suede beauty of a bag and haven't been able to wear anything else.

Tie-dye Leopard

Its finally Friday, I could not be happier and while skipping home today got stopped by this guy in a fluro vest on my street asking if I lived here. Now he was spoiling my Friday buzz so I said Yea I live here and prepared to walk off when he said you're not allowed on this street if you don't live here. Pfft! Then I remembered they are shooting the new Wolverine movie right on my street so we sat on the 'almost completely covered with tropical foliage' balcony and watched the proceedings for sometime. Then we got bored of watching Hugh Jackman walk up and down a fake Japanese street and the boy made apple-mango vodkatinis and all was well again. These pictures were taken while we were chilling post Mr Jackman watching. Its been about six hours now and they are still at it and we're like meh whatever.

This is the kind of outfit I wear on a daily basis, a different variation of the shorts and singlet combination. Also included are few pictures of the little corners of the house that bring me immense joy, especially my jewellery display where I have draped my favourite cuffs over candle stands and have a little digging for treasure session everyday in my ring bowls :D TGIF yaaay!

Fifty and counting

The boy and I were just sitting home, drinking, chatting and playing our favourite music when I was astounded by his lack of knowledge about me, he still didn't know who my favourite Beatle was! I promptly loaded My sweet Lord and and exclaimed baah ofcourse George Harrison. I know most people go with either Mccartney or Lennon, I love John Lennon but there is something about George Harrison that just appeals to me on many levels.

I remember my Mum humming my sweet lord while doing chores, long before I knew bands or artists, when it was just her and I and my days consisted of following her around mimicking everything she did. This happened a long time ago but I remember the moment clearly like it was yesterday, a sunny late afternoon and me listening rapt to this beautiful song in my Mother's sweet voice. And to this date the song never fails to lift my spirits. That I think was one of my earliest introductions to music and fashion that I would later come to love and be inspired by.

I love looking through old pictures and wish I was born earlier and lived in batik prints, tie-die, paisley prints, maxis, wide legged pants, oh wait! I do live in them. But you get my point, it would have been wonderful to have lived in that era not just be inspired by it. So I have been listening to Harrison and Eric Clapton non-stop and trawled tumblr to put together an inspiration post dedicated to my favourite of the Beatles. And the best part is, this is my fiftieth post, I know its a teeny tiny milestone but knowing my attention span its a decent achievement to stick to something. I guess I really like it and the best part is I am not doing it for money or for followers or any of that jazz, I post here because I really like to and that makes me want to come back and post more. Happy Monday all!

Vintage Versace goodness

Vintage Versace shorts: DIY-ed gifted jeans, Boots: Gifted, Hat: Myers, Jewellery: All over, Everything else: Thrifted

I have been on the look out for the perfect pair of Mom jeans to hack into a pair of boy-friend shorts that are back-packing across India-suitable and a friend just gave me her old vintage Versace, made in Italy jeans that were then DIY-ed into this man-repeller goodness. They hang off me in a shape that apparently is pleasant only to my eyes and I am in LOVE with them. I love items that travel all over the world like these boots, they were ordered online by the boy, delivered to his address in Europe and flew to Sydney with his friend and are my new footwear obsession.

I don't think I need to elaborate on my love for crochet, tie-dye, silver jewellery or carpet bags because looking at my pictures one can definitely tell I hoard all items of the above mentioned description. I put these things together haphazardly just because it was warmish, I wanted to wear my shorts, twirl my crochet shawl around, pretend to be a witch and obviously take photos. I think I succeeded and am going to bed a happy little girl. Have a great weekend all!

Yessss! I can finally play with HTML

Tie-Dye skirt: Jay Jays, Black crochet top: Thrifted, Crochet cardigan: Thrifted/ Vintage, Boots: Country Road, Jewellery: All over, Carpet bag: Vintage

Hi guys! I have figured out how to make the pictures in my posts larger by editing HTML and am super stoked. I am sure this isn't really an impressive development for most of you guys but for a technically challenged person like me it is like reaching a super advanced level previously un-thought of. I am glad I figured it out in time for this outfit post because it combines all my favourite elements namely tie-dye, crochet, leather, silver, Chelsea boots AND it is mostly thrifted/ vintage.

On other things inspirational I have found this awesome diy dip-dye jean tutorial with a link to finding great dyes locally in Australia in Define Inspired, a rad blog that I cannot believe I have just found. And this is inspite of all the hanging out that I seem to do online oh well! Better late than never. But honestly stupendous style and great DIY.

I've got the plumber here fixing our bathroom taps and grouting therefore can't think of more to write. Happy Wednesday everyone! Nine sleeps to holiday-land Yaaaaaaaaay!

Crocheted rainbow

Dress: Vintage, Lace-up boots: Tony Bianco Vintage, Plaid shirt: Abercrombie and Fitch, Beanie: Abercrombie and Fitch, Crochet cardigan: Thrifted, Belt: South American market stall

What does one wear on a cloudy/ overcast day? All bright colours from head to toe in their tie-tyed and plaid glory ofcourse. People say one must wear only certain colours together, only a certain number per outfit, clashing hues shouldn't ever be put together...Baaaaaah! Screw stupid rules! Even before colour blocking became all the rage I dressed to appeal to the three year old colour crazy kid inside my head. Clearly I crave the approval of the imaginary people who are all mostly under five and/ or furry pet animals. Okay I should stop rambling and just spill what I want to say: I like to wear colourful clothes, vintage/ thrifted stuff, jewellery and I like what I am wearing in these photos. Have a great weekend everyone :D
