Bell bottom blues

Recently my all encompassing obsession has been the Cord killers from One teaspoon and since its pre-Christmas strict budget phase I am comforting myself by giving all my other wide-legged babies an outing. For me the boot-cut phase never really went away and although I love my skinny jeans there is a special place in my heart for bell-bottoms and that love will never falter. Trends come and go but flares are forever. Worn here with my all saints tie dye sweater, a 70s tooled leather beauty and the usual array of silver yumminess. Another simple outfit for a day of errand running, Thai food hogging and tree stomping. Life's good when there are trees to climb (in my case its more the boy just lift me and put me on the branch) possums and bats to look at and a new episode of my favourite sit-com to watch. Have a wonderful week all!

Indigo vegetable dyed beauty

Indigo tunic and Jewellery: India, Bag: Gift, Boots: France

I have a deep abiding love for all kinds of ethnic textiles especially if it involves, vegetable/ tie dyes, block print, patch work, embroidery and the list keep going. I bought this tunic because I fell in love with the deep indigo hue but it wasn't really my size and then I sat home and sewed and hemmed till it has become this perfect shapeless sack that I love. I don't really know how to use a sewing machine and don't have access to one therefore do any alterations that I have to by hand. I reaaally reaaally want to learn to sew and be able to whip up atleast basic things and be able to do minor alterations. Something to add to the already super long to-do list.

The silver enameled kundan earrings are hand-made by a small jeweler in a pattern that I chose. Kundan enameled Jewellery is created by setting different shaped, cut and polished multi coloured gemstones or enamel into a metal base. Its one of my most favourite kinds of jewelery but then again I love lots of different kinds of bijoux.
In other news I have just cut up a penny-lane-esque leather skirt today and can't wait to wear it. I might even dress as a messed up groupie for Halloween lets see. Hope everyone has had a good start to the week. Happy Monday all :D

Random shots taken after dark

Hello hello :D Two posts in a week after almost two months of silence? What can I say except for I love getting my posting mojo back. So I am sharing these pictures more for the accessories than anything else, I know some people post perfect looking pictures but I am not one of them. In the first outfit I am in love with the DIY-ed CK shorts, embroidered camel leather bag and the crochet cardigan thing and in the second with the gauzy skirt and the neck party.

I bought the shorts from a vintage shop in Surry hills which I haunt for denim and bags, the embroidered bag was a gift, the crochet cardigan is from the Manly markets, the gauzy skirt is from Paharganj, Delhi and the neck bling is from all over. I bought this skirt on one of my first few days in Delhi with my soul-sister, promptly wore it to go see the Qutab minar and I think I'll always treasure it because of the person I bought it with and the people I met while wearing it for the first time. Yea I am sentimental like that.

The more I read about fashion in most magazines the more I am inspired to just dress for myself, I can't really understand how it is okay for magazines to tell us that we are not good enough if we're not dressing for our body-type, we need to wear certain colours or certain things are not in and wearing them will make us look what? Silly??? Stupid??? Well Bleh! I am barely five feet tall and I will wear maxi skirts and dresses without heels because I WANT to. I am fed up with people telling me what looks good on me or even worse what is appropriate.

Appropriate or inappropriate is all in one's head if you ask me, telling people how they should dress or behave is just plain idiotic. If it is 40 deg celcius outside I will wear the least amount of clothing and if that makes you insecure to have me around your man or woman, one go see a shrink and get rid of your insecurities and two go run round the block to whip your body into shape instead of telling me to dress appropriately!!! Phew rant over.

I've been wanting to get this off my chest for ages, the trip back home was filled with people who made me tremendously uncomfortable about being who I am. The worst part of it all was that more women seemed to be intent on girl shaming than men. But something my Dad said stayed with me "You don't have to change who you are or lie about anything as long as you are happy with yourself". Thankfully my parents are wonderful people and are happy to let me grow into whoever I want to be. I think I should actually sit and do a post on how stupid it is to judge people on the basis of how they choose to dress or undress their body. But in the meantime I have read a pretty good post on the topic and you should definitely read Courtney's blog, especially this post

Happy friday everyone!

Pyjama shorts and embroidered leather

Block print pyjama shorts: Anokhi, Tee: Markets, Jewellery: India (stolen from sister), Flip-flops: Havaianas

So basically its soooo hot here that I can't make much of an effort to wear my usual layer upon layer therefore this pyjama and tee party. But what I lack in clothes I make up in jewellery, bags and fresh flowers. I have no words to describe my love for this embroidered tooled leather beauty, I have been pining to get my hands on it for months since my sister showed it to me on skype and now finally I get to hold it close.

Its tooo hot for me to think coherently and write sensibly, not that I normally make sense but just that I am more nonsensical than usual. Okay I will stop before I type more sentences like the previous one. Happy mid-week everyone!

White bird

Crochet dress: Op-shopped, Belt: India, Bag: African markets, Moccasins: Minnetonka, Kimono: Random shop in Paddington, Jewellery: All over

I've been crazy busy working non-stop; saving money for my trip eeeeeeeeeee two weeks before my back-packing sojourn in the Himalayas and the Thar desert with one of my best friends, CANNOT WAIT. With weather here playing spoilt sport and the crazy schedule I haven't really had much time this week for fun outing or outfit posts but this morning we had a little burst of sunshine therefore I couldn't help but wear my favourite combination of crochet with Kimono/Cape. And paired it with my beloved rings, leather bracelets and belt, tooled African leather cross-body bag and my moccasins basically all my favourite things. The belt I mentioned in one of my previous posts can be seen more clearly in this one, isn't she the prettiest? I wish it was summer and we had all the music festivals to go to, ah well come November when the northern hemisphere prepares for winter we'll be looking forward to the beautiful almost tropical Sydney summer.

On another note, I have just discovered a great great blog Madame de Rosa, most of it is in Spanish but the pictures are lovely and she wears the most original outfits. She's extremely popular and maybe you have heard of her already but I cannot stop myself from sharing inspirational finds. I have just gone through almost all of her blog and am left wanting more. Here are a few of her pictures; SHEER BRILLIANCE. Have a lovely week everyone!

The last four pictures are from Madame de Rosa's blog.

Block print love

Scallop edge suede shorts: Kookai, Indian Block Print top: Glebe markets, Jewellery: India and Markets, Tooled leather bag: Bondi Markets, Boots: Italian pop-up shop

Another beautiful sunny winter Sunday spent stomping around coastal walks in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. A relaxed day spent watching ice skaters and hitting the markets on the Bondi beach, eating, walking, taking pictures, talking and generally having a great time before the rush of another week filled with work.

Wore this beautiful Indian Block print top with scalloped suede shorts, LOOK no leggings (it was that warm and sunny) plus another pair of comfy leather booties and my usual array of neck bling. My shoulder hurt, probably messed it up sleeping up-side down or something therefore I decided to put all that I wanted to carry into the boy's back-pack but then went to the Bondi Markets and found this Vintage tooled leather beauty.

It was down to $5 and two girls had already snatched it up but then put it back because the metal clasp was broken. The girl selling it wondered if I would still want it, AS IF I'd let a trivial thing like a broken clasp stop me from loving a vintage find. And as soon as I paid I plonked all my things inside, hurt shoulder forgotten felt like the richest girl in the world. And then off we went exploring the brilliant views and bush along the coast. Hope everyone had a great Sunday!
